WHERE DOES OAK VENEER COME FROM?
You can find oaks all over the world, but we recognise an oak tree out of thousands in the countryside in the middle of the meadow.
WHAT SPECIES ARE THERE?
Amazingly, there are 21 species of oak trees in the world. Especially the Dutch Oak and the American Oak are very popular.
WHAT WE DO WITH OAK VENEER?
Oak is currently the most popular veneer in the market. Many interior builders use oak veneer in their projects.
WHERE DOES IT GROW?
The oak tree grows mainly in Europe and Asia. It belongs to the deciduous trees.
With Oak there is a visible difference in heartwood and sapwood.
The heartwood of an Oak is yellow-brown to dark brown while the sapwood is almost white. With quarter sawn pieces, you see beautiful characteristic shining mirrors.
When it is crown-cut sawn, you see a flame pattern. Oak has a high tannin content which, when it comes into contact with iron, turns the wood blue-grey.
In general, Oak is strong and hard, but reasonably easy to work and finish.
POPULAIR SPECIES
There are no less than 21 different types of Oak. However, not every oak is a popular veneer. The most popular veneers are:
- Summer Oak
- American Oak
- Swamp White Oak
FlexVeneer’s product range includes the Summer Oak and American Oak veneers.

WAT DO WE DO WITH THE VENEER?
FlexVeneer offers a lot of different sheets of oak via our online webshop. We buy all our oak wood veneer from suppliers mainly from Germany, Belgium and Portugal.
When we receive the product from our production department, we store it in our warehouse.
We then cut the strips of wood veneer to size. The sizes we use with our wood veneer are mainly 244cm x 122cm en 304cm x 122cm.
These strips of oak veneer are then glued to the sides. When this is done, the veneer is taken to the jointing machine. At the jointing machine, the oak strips are laid side by side and the shapes of the veneer are carefully examined.
Finally, a plate of the desired length is made. This is then trimmed to give us the exact dimensions. This sheet is then brought to the sawing department.
After this, the wood veneer is taken to the machine where a paper backing is made on the back of the oak veneer.
After that, the veneer is ready to be used. Some FlexVeneers are sometimes crushed or sanded, but this is then stated in the product description.
We also have an interesting article on how veneers are actually made. You can find these here.
We have given our table a nice new look. It was very easy to use and we are very happy with the result. The veneer we used was oak dosh.
I had a problem with the delivery of FlexFineer. But thanks to the customer service who responded quickly, we were able to sort it out quickly and I have the product I wanted. Thank you very much.
