From the forest
First of all, suitable trees are selected for felling. This is done under supervision and with great care so that no trees are lost.
Then trees are numbered, so that the tree can be recognised.
The trees are felled in such a way that more trees are planted in their place than are felled.
A win-win situation. We are happy with good looking veneer, and the nature with new trees.
To the factory
The logs are collected from the forest at the treatment plant.
The trunk is hosed down and then brought inside.
Here, the bark is removed.
Removal of bark
The logs are placed in a machine where the bark is removed.
When the bark is removed, it goes to the next station.
Cutting veneer
The tree-trunk is cut into thin strips that are several millimetres thick.
This is done in three ways:
1. Slicing
2. Horizontal cutting
3. Vertical cutting
Each way of cutting gives its own effect to the veneer strips.
Arrival at FlexFineer
The strips are carefully selected by us to ensure top quality.
It is delivered to us in ‘packages’ that we then use in our process.
Adding veneer strips
The veneer strips are glued together with a jointing machine.
The type of wood and its shapes are taken into account. This way you get a nice sheet.
After grouting, you usually have a sheet of 305×122 or 244×122 centimetres.
A FEW OF OUR VENEER CATEGORIES
Paper backing for strength and flexibility
Flexibility? Yes indeed, hence ‘Flex’Veneer. With FlexVeneer, we add a paper backing instead of an MDF board.
This has several advantages for you!
- You don’t have to join paper strips together!
We have already done this for you. - Super strong and flexible!
Normally, veneer cracks quite quickly, but not with us. - It stays thin! The thicknesses are between 0.7 and 0.9 mm. Do you believe it?!
And the best part is that we have created a webshop especially for you! The enthusiast, hobbyist, do-it-yourselfer or professional. Below is a link.
Thank you for reading this post. Sharing is definitely appreciated!
Have a nice day on behalf of FlexFineer.
